About Mr. Abernethy
Bruce R. Abernethy, Jr. focuses his practice on business planning, asset protection planning, estate planning, trust administration, probate administration, and estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning.
Abernethy earned his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Florida and is a former practicing Florida CPA. He is Board Certified by The Florida Bar in Wills, Trusts, and Estates.
Abernethy holds an AV Preeminent® rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the organization’s highest peer-review distinction for professional excellence and ethical standards.
With more than 43 years of experience, Abernethy advises individuals, families, and business owners on sophisticated estate and asset protection planning strategies. He is known for delivering comprehensive, technically sophisticated planning solutions while helping clients navigate complex planning matters with clarity and confidence.
Abernethy is a member and Past President of the Fort Pierce Rotary Club and previously served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, Florida. Throughout his career, he has served on numerous charitable and community boards across the Treasure Coast and South Florida.
A longtime resident of Fort Pierce, Florida, Abernethy also maintains a home in Asheville, North Carolina.
Abernethy was admitted to The Florida Bar in 1983.
His educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Accounting), Juris Doctor, and LL.M. in Taxation, all from the University of Florida.
